The Bible Study You Must Add To Your ‘Wish-List’

Picture this:

You finally realize you have time to get into the Word. But when you sit down at your desk and open up your bible, you have no idea where to start or what to do.

I’ve always struggled with reading my bible. I’ve been a Christian my whole life and I still have yet mastered the idea of reading my bible. Learning the soap bible study method in the 7th grade has helped me accomplish reading the bible everyday with a purpose, which is why I was so excited when I found out Horacio Printing came out with a soap bible study.

I recently started using the Seasons of Soap Bible Study Journal by Horacio Printing  every morning to start my day. I am reading the book on my own; however, it would also work perfectly for a group of people aspiring to draw closer to God. Their website also has videos and tutorials for a closer look into what the journal looks like and instructions for how to soap.

Although, you can use the soap method without the book (which I had done for years), I believe this bible study is a must-have for your ‘wish-list’ because you read scripture depending on the season you’re in. Each season is a 14 day bible study with a reflection entry at the beginning and end of every study. The five seasons included are:

  • Finding purpose
  • Seeking wisdom
  • Transition
  • Anxiety
  • Joy

How to Soap:

S: Scripture

First you read a bible verse which is printed in the book. During reading, I like to mark up anything that stands out to me.

O: Observations

During this time, you will write down anything that stood out to you. Maybe there was a verse that stood out to you, a word which that was repeated, or something which doesn’t make sense or seems unusual to you. There is no right or wrong answer, but doing this will help you examine the text deeper than you would if you just read them.

A: Application

This is when you will examine yourself. How does the passage relate to you and what do you need to confess to God? What steps do you need to take to become better in that specific areas? What does this passage say about God? How can you apply the passage to your life?

P: Prayer

Pray to Jesus. He will hear your prayer.

What I love about this study

  1. You can pick and choose, start whenever you want, and read scripture based on your season: During tough seasons, we often want to run away from God because we feel like he isn’t present. But what if we ran to God during those seasons and learned what he is trying to teach us? This journal does exactly that. You can pick whatever study depending on whatever season you’re in and hear scripture that relates to that season.
  2. You can reflect before and after each bible study: Not only is this book a bible study, but it also is a journal. Before and after each bible study, there is a page for reflection with lots of space. You can write down whatever is on your heart; there is no right or wrong way.
  3. The passage is written on the page: For many, the bible can often be daunting and scary. However, you can get into the Word without even opening the bible because each passage written in the book and context for who is said/wrote it.

Want to get started

Getting in the word can be difficult, however I recommend getting the Seasons of Soap Journal by Horacio Printing because it allows you to read scripture depending on the season you’re in without having to open the seemingly daunting Bible because the verse is on the page.
